£500,000 offices revamp in city centre near completion

PROPERTY developer Bruntwood is close to completing a £500,000 refurbishment of its Covent Garden development in Liverpool.

Almost half of the first phase of the scheme, known as Oriel & Covent Garden, has already been pre-let to prior to completion.

Bruntwood says its aim to create a brand new collection of flexible, multi-sized spaces.

Oriel & Covent Garden will feature a range of bespoke office spaces ranging from 200 to 2,500sq ft in size, designed to accommodate different levels of requirement and breathe new life into the previously vacant building.

Accessible via a central corridor at Oriel, as well as an upgraded street level entrance on Covent Garden, the refurbished space will feature new communal bathroom and kitchen facilities on each floor alongside meeting rooms, breakout spaces and improved lifts.

Oriel & Covent Garden dates back to the mid-19th Century, while the rear extension was added in the 1960s following bombing in World War II.

The ceilings of the building have now been stripped back to expose the original soffits and architectural suspended light fittings are being installed throughout.

Colin Forshaw, head of property at Bruntwood, said: “Encouraged by the success of other small suite schemes in and around Liverpool, we have made a significant investment to bring Covent Garden back into use via a range of flexible office spaces.

“The combined offer at Oriel & Covent Garden is second to none in terms of its location, accessibility, heritage and the types of spaces available.

“We have already secured pre-lets over 47% of the first phase and we are looking forward to bringing the rest of the scheme to market in due course.”
