£1.2m fund for enterprise zones announced at MIPIM UK

COMMUNITIES secretary Sajid Javid has announced at MIPIM UK a £1.2m fund to help development get underway at 24 enterprise zones across England.

Speaking at the property exhibition Javid invited LEPs that have a new enterprise zone to bid for a share of the funds, which could be used to help meet the costs of developing the sites.

The government has just signed a memoranda of understanding for five new enterprise zones, including the Cheshire Science Corridor, which set how government will work with local partners to ensure jobs and growth creation.

Javid said: “Today’s new £1.2m fund will help speed up development on crucial enterprise sites, helping to encourage future growth and supporting key industries, building on the world-class expertise we have right here in this country.”

He added: “With enterprise zones having attracted more than £2.6bn in private investment and supported more than 700 new businesses in the past four years alone, this is money well spent.”
