Occupational rehabilitation firm on growth path

A MANCHESTER rehabilitation case management business is expanding its staff base and launching new services to help North West employers tackle absenteeism.

Health and Case Management Ltd (HCML), which has an office on Peter Street, Manchester, can support up to 4,000 patients at one time with face-to-face visits or phone sessions.

The firm has seen its Manchester staff numbers increase five-fold, from five to 25, in the past three years and has a £10m turnover.

Keith Bushnell, chief executive of HCML, said: “Our case managers are problem solvers who remove barriers to progress.

“These may come from the NHS delays, from a worker failing to see his GP, from problems driving to work or sleeplessness.

“The case management approach brings a focus to fix things, concentrate on what’s next and get bosses and workers to collaborate better.”

According to figures published by the Office for National Statistics (ONS), musculoskeletal problems, stress, depression and anxiety accounted for 49.4m lost days in the workplace in 2015.

The new service will allow healthcare case managers to meet with employers and their staff to discuss the support they need in their recovery.

Most cases dealt with by HCML through the new service will be musculoskeletal or mental health issues and the firm helps staff return to work after a short period or even months off.

The strategy prioritises early intervention to minimise the level of absenteeism and help injured or sick workers recover and transition back into working life.

HCML opened its Manchester office in 2006 and has its headquarters in Croydon, London.
