Spencer Gardner Dickins strengthens with new director

COVENTRY accountants Spencer Gardner Dickins has strengthened its management team with the appointment of a new director.

The firm has promoted Debra Knighton from assurance and accounts senior manager to Director of Assurance.

Ms Knighton has around 25 years experience in the profession and has been with Spencer Gardner Dickins for nearly five years. She will be supported in her new role by a 15-strong assurance and accounts team.

Spencer Gardner Dickins was founded in 2004 and is led by four partners; Paul Spencer, Bryan Gardner, Paul Dickins, David Thomas and chairman David Burton.

Hat-trick of appointments at Tildesley & Tonks

WOLVERHAMPTON-based accountants Tildesley & Tonks has recruited three new staff members to support an on-going rebrand.

Parminder Nafir, from Wolverhampton, joins from Etna Vending UK, where he was financial controller. He becomes the firm’s new audit and account senior.

Jon Gater has joined the firm from Wolverhampton’s Eurorunner Logistics Management, where he was accounts manager. He becomes payroll manager at Tildesley & Tonks.

Shaun Philpott has been in business and practice for 26 years. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant with KPMG Birmingham in 1991 before becoming a senior manager with PwC in 1995. Over the last 10 years he has been involved in business consultancy and development. He returned to practice in 2012 bringing his business development and consultancy skills as an add-on to the team at Tildesley & Tonks, where he becomes an Associate.

The firm was originally set up by Cecil Tildesley in 1903. Present managing director and owner Mark Evans took over the firm as Tildesley & Tonks in 1995 and incorporated it in 2002.

Of the new appointments, he said: “I’m delighted to be growing the Tildesley & Tonks team at exactly the right time. We will soon be completely rebranding the company and re-launching our website. We pride ourselves in being a proactive, accessible accountancy practice and the multi level skills of our team enable us to offer a first tier service combined with a personal approach.”

Carl Summers recruits for growth

Carl Summers, partner, left, with Mitchell Gough NEWPORT-based Carl Summers Financial Services has appointed a highly experienced industry figure to its team, as part of an ongoing period of expansion.

Mitchell Gough, right, who has a career in the region spanning almost three decades, joins the firm in his new role specialising in corporate protection. It will see him liaise with businesses across Shropshire from sole traders right through to larger conglomerates.

He will work alongside the rest of the team providing clients with a range of services including mortgage advice, life and critical illness cover, and insurance.
