Sales records keep tumbling at Jaguar Land Rover

VEHICLE manufacturer Jaguar Land Rover has announced record global sales for April – the company’s fourth consecutive record-breaking month.

It sold 41,341 vehicles during the month, up 11% on April 2015. The company has now sold 200,154 vehicles in the first four months of this year, up almost a quarter (24%) on the same four-month period in 2015.

The company has also revealed that it new F-Pace, which only went on sale last month, has become the fastest selling Jaguar of all time – outstripping the XE, which has recently celebrated its first year on sale.

Sales during April were up year-on-year across all regions: 25% in the UK, 11% in
China, 10% in Europe and 2% in North America. Other Overseas markets were up 5% year-on-year.

Commenting on the performance, Andy Goss, Jaguar Land Rover Group Sales Operations Director said: “This is a positive start to our second quarter sales and continues the growth trend seen in the first three months of the year.

“Sales of the Jaguar XE remain solid across many of our key markets and we look forward to
its start of sales in America next month. Furthermore, response to the new Jaguar F-Pace in its first full month of sales has been extremely positive.

“We are also seeing the progressive impact of the all-new Discovery Sport, with approaching 44,000 cars sold in the first four months of this year.”

Land Rover as a whole has also celebrated its best-ever April, with 33,348 vehicles sold during the month, up 4% year-on-year.

Best-sellers were the Discovery Sport (9,422 vehicles) and the Range Rover Evoque (8,293). In the calendar year-to-date, sales of Land Rover vehicles reached 162,307, 19% up on the prior year.

Jaguar recorded its best April in over a decade, delivering 7,993 vehicles, up 49% on the previous year, due to continued solid sales of the XE.

Sales excelled in Europe and in the UK, up 190% and 108% respectively. Calendar year-to-date sales for Jaguar were 37,847, up 53% on 2015.

The F-Pace, Jaguar’s first crossover vehicle, sold more than 1,500 vehicles during the month.
