Edwardian treasure set to glisten after investment

HIDDEN Edwardian treasure Bantock House museum and park prepares to expand after receiving a £318,000 investment from the City of Wolverhampton Council.

The museum, which is located on Finchfield Road in Wolverhampton, has high hopes of increasing both visitor footfall and turnover once the expansion has completed.

The venue plan to increase catering income by extending the café and offering private hire of the venue. The former home of the Bantock family will also be offering a wider range of events including the  new one-day acoustic music festival, Banstock.

As well as extra café space, the development will create additional outdoor seating and improved disabled access. A courtyard canopy will also be added, improving the flexibility of the private hire space.

Cllr John Reynolds said: “It is essential we invest in our visitor economy if we are to increase footfall to our city venues.

“Bantock House Museum and Park is one of our most historic attractions and these improvements will encourage more people to go and see its fantastic offering.”

The development is expected to be carried out in early 2017, avoiding disruption to visitors during the peak summer months.
