5-minute tasks that could make you rich

You may think that becoming rich is simply by chance and it will never happen to you. But this simply isn’t the case, some of the most successful people out there weren’t brought up in privileged families, they worked hard to get where they are. But what are the mega-rich doing differently and how can you eventually join them? Take five minutes here and there to do these small tasks and you will soon be partying with the best of them.

1. Pick up the phone
Anyone can send an email or request to connect with someone on LinkedIn nowadays, and a phone call is much rarer than it once was. Don’t be afraid of the phone. If you need to talk to someone, give them a call and discuss properly. Often emails can get so messy that you forget what you wanted in the first place. If you want to become rich, you need to go the extra mile with your peers and be a good communicator.

2. Say thanks
Sounds simple enough, but when was the last time you sent someone a thank you card or a bottle of wine for all their help? It is something we all forget to do, but it says much more than a tweet telling your followers how much you enjoyed somebody’s company that day and takes just a minute or so. Scratch your back, I’ll scratch yours, right? If someone has helped you, remember to say thank you in a generous way and they will soon be helping you even more in the future.

3. Make lists
This takes a few minutes and will help massively in the long run. Spend two minutes making a to-do list and spend three minutes making a to-don’t list. Compare the both and you won’t go wrong. If you’re looking at your lists and ticking after each task, you will feel on top of your work and much more confident to go out there and conquer the industry.

4. Write down your balance
Each day, take a few minutes to write down your bank balance. Think about what you are spending that money on each day and if you could be saving it or even better, investing it into something that will make you better off in the long run. Knowing your bank balance at all times makes you more aware of what you are buying and if you really need it.

5. Write down your goals
Whilst you eat your breakfast or on the commute to work, ditch the book or podcast for a few minutes and write down exactly what you want to achieve that day. Put them in the corner of your laptop screen so you keep glancing at them throughout the day and remembering what you need to do. If you give yourself small goals every day, you will appreciate the bigger ones in life when you become a success.
