Santander continues to recruit in region

BANKING group Santander has underlined its ambition in the Yorkshire market with the recruitment of Andrew Shakeshaft from Royal Bank of Scotland.

The Spanish group, which owns the Alliance & Leicester, Abbey and Bradford & Bingley brands, has appointed Mr Shakeshaft to the role of relationship director in its Corporate Banking team in Leeds.

In his new role, he is responsible for providing high level support to new and existing corporate customers in Yorkshire, and will be based at the bank’s regional corporate banking centre, which is located at Merrion Street in Leeds

Mr Shakeshaft, aged 40, reports to Neil Williams, regional director for Yorkshire and brings 22 years’ banking experience to his new role.

He joins Santander from RBS, where he held a number of corporate and commercial positions, most recently as co-director for the Leeds Commercial Office.

Commenting on his new role Mr Shakeshaft said: “I am delighted to be joining Santander Corporate Banking and to be returning to relationship management. Santander is building a very strong reputation in the region, and I am looking forward to working with existing customers of the bank and also developing new relationships with businesses in Yorkshire.
