79-year-old printing firm celebrates contract with major leisure operator

A long-established family print company has won a major contract with the operator of venues such as Sheffield City Hall, Sheffield Arena and Ponds Forge International Sports Centre.

Pinders, which has been based in Sheffield for 79 years, has been appointed to provide signage and related services for SIV (Sheffield International Venues) as it continues its expansion into the booming £117bn UK leisure industry.

SIV is one of the largest sport, leisure and entertainment companies in the UK and serves more than four million visitors each year.

It operates venues including Sheffield City Hall, Sheffield Arena, the English Institute of Sport Sheffield, iceSheffield and Ponds Forge International Sports Centre in Sheffield, The Spa at Scarborough and Whitby Pavilion.

Pinders will provide all signage requirements for SIV across its numerous conferencing, events and leisure venues.

Managing director Pinders, David Whiteway, said: “This is an excellent and transformational contract win for Pinders. We already have a strong reputation for delivering outstanding signage and print solutions for professional sports clubs and venues and this new contract with SIV cements our growth in the sport and leisure sector.

“SIV recognised our determination to go above and beyond for our clients and were impressed by our track record. We are continually investing in new technology and investing in our talented team. These are very positive times at Pinders.

“Pinders is a very different business to the one founded by my grandfather almost 80 years ago. Technology has totally changed the print and signage landscape and our move into large format print has enabled Pinders to diversify and provide end to end solutions.

“Although technology has evolved, our principles and commitment to customers remains just as strong.”

Steve Brailey, chief executive of SIV, said: “With a broad range of experience developed over the last 80 years, we were impressed by Pinders’ recent development into new sectors; bringing their level of enthusiasm and dedication to what they do. As a not-for-profit charitable organisation, we choose our partners very carefully and are delighted to support the local Sheffield business economy as we commence this multi-year agreement with Pinders.”
