Green light for Leeds United stadium rebrand plans

Rebranding proposals for the home of Leeds United at Elland Road, have been approved.

Leeds City Council has given the green light for signage and branding around the arena to be installed, which the club says will feature players and historical time lines.

Plans for 15 sections of signage have already commenced, with graphics being applied to the South Stand.

The club said that there would be minimal advertising of sponsors, with a focus on promoting the brand of LUFC.

The proposals are set to be complimented by a new interior for the stadium, planners Quod said.

Leeds City Council said in a statement: “The stadium is currently quite tired looking
and in need of a refresh, so these banners and graphics help to do this in a relatively cheap
way.

“The branding is quite typical of similar football stadiums and will not cause the stadium
to be intrusive or out of place.”

Chairman and owner Andrea Radrizzani announced the improvements after acquiring the stadium via his investment vehicle Greenfield Investment Pte, the parent company of LUFC, in June 2017.

It is now under the direct control of the football club for the first time in 13 years, and Radrizzani has said he is keen “to bring about improvements to the site to the benefit of fans, players and [the] wider local community.”

Some banners were flying for the club’s first home game of the season, but they failed to whip the team up into a frenzy, as they drew 0-0 against Preston.
