TheBusinessDesk.com launches in the West Midlands

THEBUSINESSDESK.com has continued its expansion with the launch of a new West Midlands operation.

Headed by former Birmingham Post editor Marc Reeves, the new online regional business news service for the West Midlands follows the existing sites in Yorkshire and the North West.

Updated daily, TheBusinessDesk.com is the only website dedicated to West Midlands’ business news and information. The concept was launched in November 2007 in Yorkshire, with a second website launched for the North West in September 2008.

If you have business colleagues and contacts in the West Midlands region we would be grateful if you could email them with the details of our new website.

Commercial launch partners in the West Midlands include international law firm Hammonds, accountants and business advisers BDO and serviced office and property specialists Bruntwood.

Marc Reeves said: “TheBusinessDesk.com is a fast-growing online business which has enjoyed phenomenal success in Yorkshire and the North West, building up a following of more than 30,000 registered users.

“As traditional media has struggled to remain viable, this concept which provides up-to-the-minute, informed regional business news free and direct to the user, is proving extremely popular with professionals and entrepreneurs alike.

“Having spent more than 25 years in newspapers, this is an exciting new venture for me which fits perfectly with my interest in online journalism and social media networks. I believe that TheBusinessDesk.com will fill a real need here for daily regional business news delivered in a clear and easily accessible format.”

Based in Birmingham, the West Midlands operation will employ a four-strong team including deputy editor Duncan Tift and business development manager Lee-J Walker. It is aimed at the thousands of entrepreneurs, chief executives, senior managers and business professionals operating throughout the region.

David Parkin, group managing editor of TheBusinessDesk.com, said: “One of the secrets of our success is bringing on board the very best regional journalists with the experience, real understanding and contacts to work closely with the business community.

“As one of the best known and most respected journalists in the West Midlands, Marc will play a key part in helping us to replicate the success we have enjoyed elsewhere, helping us to provide a much-needed daily source of trusted business news.”
