TWO companies from Yorkshire – ESP Group and Nostrum Group – have been named among the top 100 fastest-growing technology firms in the country.
The Sunday Times Hiscox Tech Track 100 ranks Britain’s private technology, media and telecoms companies with the fastest-growing sales over three years.
Smart card supplier ESP Group in Hull has been ranked 32nd after it grew sales by 84% a year to £53.4m.
Harrogate-based Nostrum Group, which develops financial software, is ranked 75th, dropping down slightly from last year’s position of 67, after its average annual sales growth was 53% to £9.0m.
The Test People misses out after being on the list for the previous two years, when the region has two firms on the list in 2014 and just one in 2013.
“Tech is one of this country’s most exciting sectors right now,” said Steve Langan, chief executive of league table sponsor Hiscox Insurance Company. “It’s a phenomenal success story with impressive growth and innovation that has shown the UK deserves its position as a tech hub.”
Of the 100 companies on the list, 52 are headquarted in London and 15 are in the south east. Only Northern Ireland, with one firm, has a smaller representation than Yorkshire.
