“Filthy” conditions lead to farm produce company shut down

A FARM products firm has been closed down for the second time in six months over “filthy” conditions in its production facilities.

The East Riding of Yorkshire Council has slapped the Rosedale Farm Products of Hornsea with a prohibition order.

Last year, a similar order was granted in September and revoked in December.

This hygiene emergency prohibition order came as a result of the filthy condition of food processing equipment.

Extraneous matter and decomposing raw venison was found on site, with no hot water to allow cleaning and disinfection of tools and hand washing.

The order, which was granted on Tuesday, 9 February 2016, prohibits the premises and vehicle from being used for the purpose of a food business with immediate effect as it presented an imminent risk of injury to health.

The company produces poultry and game. It is run by Charles and Margery Todd, and was closed down last year due to the presence of flying insects and again, poor conditions.

The order will remain in force until the council is satisfied there is no longer such a risk.
