Major business park plans set for approval

Plans to build a business park near Harrogate, which could support around 3,000 jobs, have been submitted.

Leeds-based Addison Planning is acting on behalf of Forward Investment with an outline application for an eco-friendly park at Flaxby, south west of the junction of the A59 and A1M, which could support 2,840 jobs when fully occupied.

A further 800 could be created in the supply chain and 300 during construction, Addison Planning says.

It said the vision for the site is to create a “unique business park that will
champion green technologies through innovative and challenging design.”

It is proposed that 34 acres will be allocated for new employment
Development, 580,000 sq ft for R&D and light industrial purposes, while ancillary uses are to include up to 30,000 sq ft for the potential provision of a gym, creche and small scale retail and cafes.

Meanwhile, the application proposes 8.2 acres for a new park and ride and rail halt, and 57.8 acres would include the retention and enhancement of existing woodland area, new road infrastructure and new landscaping areas.

The proposed access arrangements include the provision of a new
roundabout along the existing site access route that will help to separate
traffic for the park and ride and the new businesses.
