5 things to do in the East Midlands this weekend

NOT sure what to do on the last weekend before Christmas? We’ve compiled a list of events and activities to explore and enjoy across the East Midlands over the next few days.
1. Grease the musical
Date: Saturday 17th December
Location: Curve Theatre, Leicester
Grease is the word this Christmas as Nikolai Foster directs the Curve’s brand new production of the electrifying, smash hit musical. After a whirlwind summer romance, leather-clad greaser Danny and girl-next-door Sandy are unexpectedly reunited when she transfers to Rydell High for senior year. But can they survive the trials and tribulations of teenage life, and find true love once more?
2. Family carol concert
Date: Saturday 17th December
Location: Royal Concert Hall, Theatre Square, Nottingham
Nottingham Harmonic Choir and the Thoresby Colliery Band will be coming together this weekend for a celebration with the very best Christmas classics, from traditional carols to modern hits. Come along and join Thoresby Colliery Band and the choir as they get into the festive spirit.
3. Wonderland
Date: Tuesday 13th – Saturday 31st December
Location: Derby Roundhouse, Derby
This Christmas VIVID Experience presents their mesmerising new theme, Wonderland. Guests will be invited to explore a curious new world where majestic creatures roam, intriguing sights and sounds take hold and powerful entertainment grips the nights festivities. 4. An audience with Father Christmas
Date: Saturday 17th – Sunday 18th December
Location: Lincoln Castle, Lincoln
Spread some Christmas magic by treating your loved ones to a festive experience at Lincoln Castle this weekend. Join Father Christmas as he tells stories of Victorian Christmases and gives out Victorian style gifts. The children will even get an opportunity to meet the man himself and tell him their Christmas wishes too.
5. Christmas farmers market
Date: Saturday 17th December
Location: Market Square, Highham Ferrers, Northamptonshire
Between 9am and 1pm on the last Saturday before Christmas the Highham Ferrer’s Christmas farmers market will be taking place with over 20 stalls each offering something different. The market will be selling various produce including Aberdeen Angus beef, organic eggs and vegetables, Italian peppers, organic pork and lamb, free range poultry, beer, pork in all its forms in addition to pickles, pies, herbs, fresh fish, fruit and honey, preserves, traditional bread, plants & cheese.
