Law firm adds to wills and probate team in Leicester

Emma Longstaff

Leicester law firm Nelsons has bolstered its wills and probate team through the appointment of a new associate and solicitor.

Emma Longstaff, who qualified as a solicitor in 2018, spent more than six years at Leicester firm Josiah Hincks Solicitors – working her way through the ranks from legal secretary to associate solicitor – before joining Nelsons.

Her areas of expertise include wills; administration of estates, including intestate estates; grants of probate; grants of letters of administration; and powers of attorney.

Longstaff said: “Nelsons is a well-known, respected and established firm within Leicester and the wider East Midlands region that is renowned for its forward-thinking culture, which I’m delighted to now be a part of. Being able to progress in my chosen field is important to me and joining a growing department filled with so many legal experts will enable me to advance and further my skills.”

She added: “The process of making a will can be a tense experience for a lot of people; that’s why I am committed to lending a helping hand, making sure they are supported and giving my clients the best service that they deserve.

“My favourite aspect of the role is making sure our clients know all their options, so they are not left in the dark during the process. I appreciate no two clients are the same, which makes the role varied as it means I have to adapt my approach to best suit their needs.”

Longstaff graduated from Leicester’s De Montfort University in 2015 and completed her Legal Practice Course in 2018.

She said: “Nelsons’ innovative approach to IT meant my move during the pandemic was seamless; I was provided with all the equipment I needed to be able to service my clients remotely. Everyone has been very welcoming and supportive, and I am looking forward to working with such a great team.”

Nadia Faki, legal director in the Leicester private client team, who will be working with Emma, added: “We are very excited that Emma has joined the team. With her wide range of experience and positive attitude, we feel she will be a great asset to Nelsons. Although the pandemic meant that we’ve all been working remotely for the past 18 months, I am looking forward to working more closely with Emma as we make our phased return to the office.”
