Nottingham homelessness charity bids farewell to long-standing CEO

Denis Tully

Emmanuel House Support Centre has announced that long-serving CEO Denis Tully will retire in November 2025, bringing to a close over a decade of leadership at the Nottingham-based homelessness charity.

Tully first joined the organisation in 2013 and took up the CEO role two years later.

During his time at the helm, he helped grow and reshape the charity’s services, including launching accommodation projects and the Culturally Specific Support Service, while maintaining a focus on person-centred care.

Clive Sillito, chair of trustees said: “Denis has shaped and strengthened Emmanuel House through his servant-hearted leadership. He has shown a deep commitment to person-centred care. The Board has nothing but praise for how he has led the charity over the last decade.”

Tully’s leadership also saw Emmanuel House navigate the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic, mobilising emergency accommodation and support.

Under his watch, the charity built a strong volunteer network, now numbering over 150 active volunteers and more than 1,400 hours of donated time from local groups in the past year alone.

Tully said: “It’s been a privilege to work for Emmanuel House, and I believe it is simply time for someone else to drive developments in the charity. It goes without saying that the depth of my gratitude to all our staff and volunteers past and present is infinite. The enrichment they bring to Emmanuel House is incalculable, and the difference they make to making my role both easier and enjoyable is also incalculable.

“It has been a privilege to have worked with such diverse and talented staff teams, people who I admire greatly for what they achieve and from whom I have learned so much. Emmanuel House is really about the thousands of people who are involved in the charity in so many ways, whether they donate from afar or turn up at fundraising events. Our supporters provide the means to make work happen, for whom I am thankful.”

The search for a new CEO is now underway.
