Castle Donington hospital bed manufacturer snaps up French rival

Medstrom, the Castle Donington provider of bed management services to the healthcare sector, has bought French hospital bed and medical furniture manufacturer, MMO International.

The deal means that Medstrom is now the UK’s only independent hospital bed manufacturer.

David Belli, chief executive at Medstrom, said:  “The acquisition of the majority stake in MMO represents a significant milestone for Medstrom and makes us the UK’s only remaining independent hospital bed manufacturer, meaning that we can offer NHS and private sector customers greater choice, service and flexibility compared with competitors controlled by larger, multi-national corporations.

“The acquisition is very positive for both companies, with the Medstrom group now having a wide expertise in product development, manufacturing, sales, service and equipment rental. When you add in our growing Italian operation, 2017 will see the group operating directly in four countries, including Ireland, generating annual revenues of over £35 million and employing around 280 people.

“The collaboration opportunities with MMO will add significant value to both companies and, ultimately, improve the operational efficiency and delivery of patient care for the many healthcare providers we serve. The investment will also strengthen MMO’s business infrastructure and support the company’s growth strategy in both the French and International markets.”
