Manufacturer secures planning permission for international venture

A1 Flue Systems has secured planning permission for a new purpose-built warehouse and trade counter in North Nottinghamshire for its new Anglo-Italian venture, A1 Expo.

The directors of the company say they are keen to see work start as quickly as possible on the new 15,000 sq ft building in New Ollerton – with construction taking as little as eight weeks.

A1 Expo is a venture between A1 Flue Systems and European stainless steel giant Expo Inox to become the leading supplier of small-diameter flue components and flue liner for the UK domestic market by supplying independent stove shops, builders’ merchants and heating engineers.

The new warehouse and trade counter will be the platform from which the company can start delivering on its ambitious growth targets of achieving £7m turnover within three years.

Director TJ Duncan-Moir says that the team looked at taking other premises in or around the Newark area but opted to build its own premises next to the A1 Flue Systems factory.

“It’s fantastic news that we have been granted planning permission on a building that will be a standalone premises for A1 Expo,” said Moir. “We are very lucky that we own the land adjoining the A1 Flue Systems factory, so gaining permission has been a smooth and quick process.

“Having a dedicated warehouse and trade counter for A1 Expo is a vital platform from which we expect to achieve the very ambitious targets we have set for business growth in the next three years.

“The new premises will enable us to carry a wide variety of stock that local customers can call in and collect there and then or customers further afield can have on a next-day delivery basis.”
