Plans for 3,000 new homes near Nottingham get green light

Plans for Fairham Pastures

Plans for 3,000 homes and 1m sq ft of employment land just outside of Nottingham have been passed by Rushcliffe Borough Council.

Fairham Pastures, south of Clifton, has been identified in Rushcliffe’s Local Plan as part of the requirement to deliver 13,500 new homes in the Borough over the next ten years.

The outline application, submitted in July 2014, includes up to 3,000 new homes; 1.07 million sq ft of employment land generating in excess of 2,500 new jobs; new shops, community buildings and a new primary school. As well as sports pitches, a destination park, childrens’ play areas, community park and woodland, the application includes space for four gypsy and traveller pitches.

The employment land will be a mix of light industrial or office space, general industry and storage and distribution uses. Rushcliffe Borough Council says the focus will be on attracting new businesses to the area.
