New office scheme to bring 260 jobs to Derby

Plans to build 26,000 sq ft of office space in the centre of Derby have been given the green light be the City Council.

The plans, submitted by Prime Construction Services, would see 260 people working in the offices in the riverside area of Derby as buildings at the former Contractors Yard on City Road are demolished to make way for the scheme. A 186-metre flood wall would also be built as part of the scheme.

Planning documents say that the site has suffered numerous break-ins since becoming derelict.

A statement reads: “At a height of three storeys the new Offices will be only marginally higher than the existing buildings to be demolished and the adjoining three storey residential development of Etruria Gardens, on the fringe of the Little Chester Conservation Area – carefully designed as a sensitive, low-key, transition from residential to commercial – with a style and simple palette of materials reflective of the former.”
