£2m vehicle investment for Derbyshire recycling business

Ward, the Derbyshire-based metal and waste recycling specialist has expanded and upgraded its vehicle fleet by investing over £2m in new, environmentally-efficient artic lorries, wheeled tippers, plus wheelie bin and skip lorries.

Ward has bought 15 new vehicles including several DAF articulated lorries, eight wheeled tippers, Roll-on-Roll-off wagon and drags and skip transporters, each with an average value in excess of £120,000.

Min Bawa, transport manager at Ward said: “We’ve seen an influx of metal recycling and waste management work over the past 12 months and we’ve expanded and upgraded our fleet to now over 120 modern, energy efficient vehicles to meet current and future demand. In the past we have used various subcontractors for moving materials, but we’ve decided to further invest to bring much of this work in-house, to be able deliver a better service to our customers.”

“We’ve chosen DAF as we believe they are the most comfortable and energy efficient offering us the maximum MPG for our fleet.”

Ward says it will make Further investment is planned this year with a number of other vehicles on order including a 7.5 tonne compaction unit and a specialist hazardous waste truck, as well as three new vans for Ward’s UK textile recycling service WARDRobe, thanks to a string of new contracts with national clothing retailers.
