On the move: the latest East Midlands hires

Finch Consulting has continued its expansion by making two senior appointments.

Julia Thomas and Martin White have joined the firm’s Ashby de la Zouch head office as head of legal and senior consultant respectively.

Thomas, a regulatory lawyer, specialises in health and safety and environmental matters. Prior to joining Finch, she worked in private practice having previously been a solicitor in the in-house litigation and enforcement advisory team with the Health and Safety Executive.

White is a member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology. He joins Finch as a senior consultant from TÜV SÜD, an international company which provides testing, product certification, qualification, training and knowledge services.

Thomas said: “Joining Finch offers a new challenge and I was attracted by the prospect of being part of such a talented team of experts. Finch is unique in that it is the only professional services organisation to be both an engineering consultancy and law firm.”

White added: “The passion and energy of the firm really shows through in its people. I am excited to be joining a firm where I can contribute with expert advice but also by delivering training programmes that will enable Finch and its clients to achieve engineering excellence.”

Elsewhere, Nottingham-based property development firm Hockley Developments has announced two new hires.

Ken Denney has been appointed as senior quantity surveyor to assist with the increasing number of new build developments in the company’s pipeline.

He brings a wealth of experience to the firm having worked for Barratt Homes, Bellway Homes and Taylor Wimpey over the last 15 years.

Construction director Nick Brown said: “We are delighted to secure the services of Ken, with his experience ideal for our growing business. He has hit the ground running and is already assisting by increasing our efficiency and cost management.”

Adam Jones

Meanwhile, Adam Jones has joined the company as an architectural designer.

Architectural manager Ewan Cassell said: “After graduating, Adam gained excellent experience in London working on various commercial and residential projects and is a welcome addition to our team. With 6 projects at various stages of planning or development, Adam’s knowledge and skill set are ideal as we continue to expand.

“Hockley Developments expects to further increase their team over the next 6 months.”
