BT announces key Midlands appointment

Wendy Sycamore

BT Group has appointed a new public affairs lead for the Midlands.

Former PR manager Wendy Sycamore started her career at BT as a graduate and has held a number of roles during her time with the firm, including most recently as senior manager in the office of the chief executive.

In her new role Sycamore will lead BT Group’s relationships with local authority representatives and business leaders across the Midlands.

Prior to her role in the CEO’s office, Sycamore worked in a number of PR-related roles, including leading communications for BT’s all IP voice transformation programme. She also managed communications activity for the company’s fibre broadband rollout.

She said: “I’m really looking forward to my new role with BT, at what is a very exciting time for the company.

“I will be responsible for maintaining key political relationships on behalf of BT Group with MPs, elected mayors and local councillors on any matters relating to our activity in the region.

“We are in the midst of a number of exciting projects, including the recent rollout of EE’s 5G network in Birmingham and launches this year in places such as Wolverhampton, Coventry, Leicester and Nottingham. This is happening alongside improving 4G coverage in other areas. We are also investing significantly in the Midlands with improved work places of the future to benefit our staff and customers.”

As part of BT’s nations & regions team, Sycamore will work closely with combined and local authorities, local enterprise partnerships and business and community organisations to focus on the success and growth of the region’s economies.
