Games Workshop ‘in great shape’ as revenue and profits soar
Increase in sales contributes to Nottingham firm's stellar performance

Games Workshop has seen its revenue and operating profits soar after growing its trade, retail and online sales by 19 per cent, the company says.

In its half-yearly results announcement for the six months to 1 December 2019, the Nottingham-based fantasy games manufacturer said it had notched up profits of £59.2 million during the period – an impressive increase on 2018’s figure of £40.8 million – and turned over £148.4 million as compared to £125.2 million this time last year.

The firm has pinpointed product innovation as a key driver of its success, with its new Citadel Colours range representing a “step change” in its paint offer.

Licensing sales also contributed to the company’s strong performance, with royalties increasing by £5.2 million to £10.7 million.

Kevin Rountree, CEO of Games Workshop, said: “Our business and the Warhammer Hobby continue to be in great shape.

“We are pleased to once again report record sales and profit levels in the period. The global team have worked their socks off to deliver these great results. My thanks go out to them all.

“Sales for the month of December are in line with our expectations.

“We are also announcing that the Board has today declared a dividend of 45 pence per share, in line with the Company’s policy of distributing truly surplus cash.”
