Financial services giant names Nottingham big-hitter as chief exec

Robin Beer

A former regional director and one-time head of the Nottingham office at investment management and financial planning giant Brewin Dolphin has been named as the company’s new chief executive.

Robin Beer will replace incumbent David Nicol upon his retirement on 14 June.

Beer, who currently oversees Brewin Dolphin’s intermediaries, charity, professional services and digital businesses, joined the firm in 2008 to open and run its Nottingham site.

He later became regional director for the entire Midlands, before taking up his current role in 2013.

Before arriving in Nottingham, Beer worked for National Australia Bank, Gerrard and Barclays.

Simon Miller, chairman at Brewin Dolphin, said: “We are delighted to announce Robin’s appointment as David’s successor. Robin understands both the broad landscape in which we operate and has a deep knowledge of our business and culture. Since joining the executive committee in 2016, he has been a key member of the executive team and is the ideal person to continue the execution of our successful strategy, while sustaining and nurturing our well-established client-focused approach.”
