On the move: the latest East Midlands hires

Dominika Walker

The UK’s largest alternative provider of wholesale fibre network infrastructure has named a new East Midlands city manager as it prepares to start work on a £45 million project in the region.

Derby is set to benefit from CityFibre’s national Gigabit City Investment Programme rollout, which will bring next-generation, gigabit-speed broadband to nearly every home and business in the city.

IT and communications expert Dominika Walker has been chosen to lead the project. She makes the step up having been with CityFibre for the last three years.

She said: “A state-of-the-art digital infrastructure plays a crucial role in growing and protecting local economies, so I’m delighted to be stepping into a new role with an organisation that is doing everything it can to transform towns and cities across the country.

“The benefits of full fibre connectivity are huge, not just for businesses, but residents too. I’m looking forward to working in partnership with Derby City Council and other stakeholders from across the city to ensure that we maximise on all the opportunities. At the same time, I’m determined to ensure that the local community is with us every step of the way and understand the difference that full fibre broadband can have now, and in the future.”

Work to extend Derby’s full fibre network is expected to begin in late spring.

Martyn Pask, managing director at Redrow Homes East Midlands, said: “Craig and Lynne join us at a very exciting time for our division. We’ve recently moved into new, much larger offices to accommodate growth after three years building homes across the East Midlands.

“One of our key focuses at Redrow Homes is valuing talent, and this means finding and developing those with passion for the sector. Craig and Lynne’s combined experience in this industry speaks for itself, and we are thrilled to welcome them to our growing team.”

The firm recently moved to bigger offices in Castle Donington following a period of growth.
