PwC appoints new head of financial services

Professional services firm PwC has appointed Chris Shepherd as its financial services leader in the Midlands.

Shepherd has recently been promoted to partner in the firm, where he has worked for 14 years.

In his new role, he will lead a team of around 180 financial services specialists based across PwC’s Birmingham, Castle Donington and Milton Keynes offices.
Shepherd has worked for PwC since joining as a graduate in 2006.

He joined the London Banking & Capital Markets (B&CM) team in 2012 and has since spent two years in New York from 2015 to 2017, after which he returned to B&CM in London before moving back to Manchester.

He said: “I am excited to be joining the Midlands practice where we have a growing team of over 180 professionals working across banking and capital markets. As the Midlands continues to build its profile as a centre of excellence for financial services nationally and internationally, the digitisation and transformation of the industry presents many opportunities.”

Shepherd takes on the role from Carl Sizer, who has recently taken on the role of head of regions for the UK firm.

Matt Hammond, PwC’s Midlands regional chairman, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Chris to the Midlands as we continue to invest in our specialist sectors and technical teams close to our clients, supporting their people and  local economies.”
