Velez Managed Services, the IT maintenance firm, has invested a six-figure sum in new offices that will see it move outside of Derby city centre.

The company, whicuh has hired 36 people during 2020, has relocated to a larger office at Badger Farm, just off the A516, to ensure its new and existing employees have a safe work environment.

The new offices will allow employees at Velez to social distance while in the workplace, however the company have given their employees the option to work at home if they wish.

Safety measures such as hand sanitisers, desks spaced two metres apart and sitting 1-2 metres apart in meeting rooms have been put into place by CEO Sean Price to ensure the employees working in the office during the pandemic aren’t at risk.

In addition, only one person is allowed into the toilets or kitchen at one time, as well as the office being regularly cleaned, including sanitising desks – which cannot be shared.

After the pandemic, the office will have pool tables and other features for employees on their lunch breaks. However, for now the office consists of eating areas separate to the workspaces, large desks with multiple computer screens, multiple meeting areas and rooms, projectors and televisions and personalised wall decorations such as Velez football shirts and a geometric wall, designed by the employees.

Price said: “As a global IT maintenance firm, it is essential we have a secure location. This multi-year deal also includes a warehouse for parts and spares on-site, a decision made by CEO Sean Price when moving to a larger space.

“Approximately 16 minutes from the city centre, the countryside office isn’t too far from the centre of Derby while still being out of the way and quiet. This investment is a great opportunity for Velez to expand further in the future, which is one of our goals for 2021.”
