On the move: the latest East Midlands hires

Dave Skidmore and Gareth Barnard

Bicester-based Seychell Engineering & Fabrication has appointed a new operations manager, as the firm begins to roll out a major investment in training and equipment following its acquisition by Go2 Engineering Group in late 2020.

With a 20-year career in the industry and a background in motorsport engineering, Dave Skidmore will work closely with Go2 Engineering’s group commercial director Gareth Barnard and group managing director Peter Dodd.

In early February, Dodd announced that Northampton-based Go2 Engineering had acquired the Peterborough-based stainless steel engineering specialist 316 Engineering, the eighth acquisition in recent years by the group.

Skidmore will now focus on the training and development of the team and the integration of over £500,000 worth of new machinery.

He said: “This a very exciting time for the business. We became part of the Go2 Engineering family in late 2020 and ever since the focus has been on investing in our people, both in terms of their own specific skill sets and the equipment that we are bringing to the facility.

“It is a huge investment but we pride ourselves on exceptional quality and that requires the best resources, whether human or machine. I am looking forward to working with the Seychell team and of course with Gareth and Peter from the wider group perspective.’

Barnard added: “We are investing heavily in our people and equipment and Dave’s appointment is key in getting the very best out of both resources.

“He has a fantastic reputation in the industry and is a great leader. This is a time of transition for us. Along with the new equipment which should be arriving imminently we will be making further investments later in the year and Dave will be central to the success of this investment.”

The QS team at multi-disciplinary design practice, rg+p has welcomed four new team members following a sustained period of growth.

Najmul Ahmed and Russell Mumford join as quantity surveyors in the Leicester and Birmingham teams respectively while Haroon Masood and Alice Nash have commenced one year work placements as assistant quantity surveyors.

“Despite the challenges of the last year, the team’s workload increased by 10%,” explains cost and project management director, Mitch Dale. “This is attributed to our solid reputation within the affordable housing sector, appointment onto five major frameworks including the £10.4m EN:Procure Consultancy framework and a series of significant projects wins including a residential development in Bulwell, Nottingham for Godwin Developments; a commercial development at Kings Cross for Kier; a mixed use scheme in Clapham for MTVH as well as almost 600 new homes on sites in Rugby, Stowmarket and Upton.

“Considering all these factors, it was essential to commence a recruitment programme for both experienced and trainee professionals and we are now very pleased to welcome Najmul, Russell, Haroon and Alice to the team.”
