People: Nelsons; BB&J Commercial; Smith Cooper Independent Financial Services

Law firm Nelsons has welcomed a new associate to its employment law team in Leicester.

Sonia Tumber has more than eight years’ experience, having worked at national law firm Weightmans as a paralegal and trainee solicitor. She specialises in a number of areas such as settlement agreements and discrimination in the workplace, but has been brought in to particularly focus on employment tribunal litigation as well as supporting with the increase in enquiries Nelsons has experienced this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

She said: “I’m so excited to have joined the team at Nelsons – it’s one of the leading law firms in the region with a fantastic reputation for providing quality legal advice, empowering clients and guiding them through the complex legal issues they face.

“Despite starting a new role remotely as everyone is still working from home, I already feel part of the team. Nelsons has ensured all its employees have the necessary technology to enable agile and secure working and provided an in depth induction to ensure I felt at ease immediately.”

Amey Hellen

BB&J Commercial has appointed Amey Hellen, a recent graduate from the University of Derby, as digital communications and marketing coordinator.

Hellen has recently completed her Business Management degree at the University of Derby, where she has gained experience in social media marketing through a year in industry placement and freelance work.

With her existing industry experience in marketing to both businesses and consumers, we are confident that she will be a great addition to our existing team and help us develop and strengthen our social media strategy to further grow our brands.”

Hellen added: “I am thrilled to be in a graduate role considering the pandemic and I cannot wait to share my ideas and creativity. Social media marketing is my dream role and I finally get to do that and apply it to a reputable Derbyshire firm. I look forward to getting stuck in and continue to develop their presence.”

Mufaddal Travadi

Leicester-headquartered Smith Cooper Independent Financial Services (SCIFS), a member of the Smith Cooper group, has hired chartered financial planner Mufaddal Travadi to the firm.

Travadi joins SCIFS from Hargreaves Lansdown, where he has spent over eight years as a financial advisor. He has also spent time at Skipton Financial Services and Santander.

He said: “I am delighted to be joining SCIFS and to be working alongside the wider team to provide leading wealth management strategies and solutions.

“I have been a financial planner for the last 15 years, of which the last eight have been spent with the FTSE 100 company Hargreaves Lansdown. I became a financial adviser in order to make a material difference to people’s financial situations. For this reason, I look forward to working with clients in an independent nature and having total confidence that we can find the correct solution for them, to help them attain their longer-term hopes and dreams.”
