People; Trio of promotions at Derby law firm; 12 new faces at accountant

Derby law firm Nelsons has promoted three of its employees – two to legal director and one to senior associate.

Mary Gharmount and Gareth Protheroe have been promoted to legal director and Davina Charlton has been made senior associate. Together they have been with Nelsons for 16 years.

Nelsons chief executive Stewart Vandermark said: “Mary, Gareth and Davina have proven their commitment to their respective fields as well as Nelsons, showing great promise for the future. I am delighted to congratulate them all on their promotions.”

Rowleys’ new starters

Leicester accountancy firm Rowleys has added 12 new members of staff to its team.

Included in the new intake is Katie Powell, who joins as senior manager after a 15-year spell with Grant Thornton.

Tom Copson, partner, said: “Whilst it has been a mixed period for many during the pandemic we have also seen a level of growth that has enabled us to keep investing in people, and ensure we are well prepared for continued growth. Our clients need us now more than ever as the economy starts to rebuild and we are also very keen to retain a work life balance for our people.”
