The girls are back and ready for Hot Property

Following our look back at Hot Property 2019 last week, we sat down with one of this year’s bands.

Despite the set list being under lock and key we chatted with girl band members Jenny Keen, planning director at Marron’s Planning, Sarah Strauther, principal transport planner at Tetra Tech, Emma Houghton, external communications business partner at Shakespeare Martineau, Laura Smith, graduate transport planner at Waterman Group, and Jemma Page, press officer at Shakespeare Martineau, to hear how they are prepping for this year’s event.

Jenny said: “I’m really looking forward to Hot Property 2021 as we’re all performing and having fun for a great cause. This is the third time I’ve taken part in Hot Property, and I really missed it last year, I can’t wait to get everyone back together.”

Although many of the acts performing this year are regular attendees of the event, there are one or two new recruits joining the Hot Property performers this year who haven’t had the experience of getting up on the PRYZM stage.

Sarah said: ‘Part of me has been swayed into doing the show due to Jenny’s motivational charm, but a bigger part of me has always wanted to do this after being part of the crowd for so long. It’s great that people from across property and construction come together like this to support such an amazing cause and I can’t wait to see all the other acts!”

Laura, another new recruit to perform at Hot Property, added: “Now we’ve actually started rehearsing I can’t believe I’m going through with it! The song we’re singing is a such an amazing throwback and I hope everyone recognises the dance moves too.”

Rehearsals for this year’s acts are well under way, held at Metronome Nottingham.

Emma, who made her Hot Property debut in 2019, said: “Performing in the Spice Girls was such a buzz that when I was asked to join yet another one of my favourite childhood girl bands, I couldn’t really say no. It’s a great event, for a really worthy cause and nothing brings you closer to your colleagues and peers than potential humiliation in front of hundreds of people!”

Jemma, another Hot Property performer who is making a return to the stage this year, said: “Even though I can’t sing, I’ve always wanted to be a popstar and I absolutely love being onstage. Performing as part of the Spice Girls at the last Hot Property was an absolute dream come true, so there was no hesitation when I was asked to join this year’s girl band. I can’t wait to throw it back to the 00s’! Which just shows what a great event Hot Property is year after year, and definitely an event you don’t want to miss out on!”

This year’s event will be held at PRYZM on 2 December and include an exciting line up from the East Midlands’ property and construction industry. With rehearsals in full swing for this year’s event, a raft of new faces are set to join the hundreds of people who have taken to the stage over the years.
