National law firm promotes three in Nottingham

(L-R): Charlotte Thomas, Su Kemp & Will Thomas

Shoosmiths has announced a trio of senior promotions at its Nottingham office – part of a nationwide promotions round which has seen the law firm appoint seven new partners, nine new legal directors and a cohort of principal associates and associates.

Su Kemp has been made a partner, Charlotte Thomas becomes legal director and Will Thomas has been promoted to principal associate.

The news follows hot on the heels of Michael Briggs’ appointment as head of office in Nottingham.

Su Kemp joined Shoosmiths in 2015 as a non-contentious real estate solicitor. In her new role as partner she will look to accelerate the firm’s growth in Nottingham by building its real estate client base and expanding its 77-strong team.

Charlotte Thomas brings a wealth of experience in dealing with multimillion pound acquisition and leveraged finance transactions to her new role as a legal director in the banking and finance team, while Will Thomas’ promotion follows his successful work on a number of major planning appeals and High Court challenges. He will work within the firm’s planning practice.

Michael Briggs, partner and head of office at Shoosmiths in Nottingham, said: “Shoosmiths is building something special in Nottingham. The full-service office is home to over 70 staff and boasts a client base that features some of the biggest companies and brands in the UK across multiple industries.

“This latest round of promotions shows the talent we have in Nottingham, while also demonstrating that Shoosmiths is a firm where you can get ahead and build a career.

“We’d like to congratulate Su, Charlotte and Will on their new positions and look forward to working with them and the wider team to deliver the office’s growth plans.”
