People: JLL; Carlton Forest Group

Phil Farrell

JLL has appointed Phil Farrell as its new head of development for the Midlands.

A former JLL director, Farrell rejoins the business after almost five years away, having held senior roles with Homes England, Urban Growth Company and, most recently, as director of development at built environment consultancy firm Stantec.

He said: “The Midlands has played a key role in the UK’s recovery over the past 12 months and is well-placed to grow by as much as £34bn by 2030. For the region to achieve those aims though, the public and private sectors need to work in tandem to provide the conditions for success. With so many opportunities for investment across the region, its towns and cities, I’m looking forward to helping our clients bring about positive regeneration for the communities they serve.”

A family-owned business has appointed a new partner as it begins the delivery of the next phase of its strategic plans.

Alex Matthias, chief development officer at Carlton Forest Group which is located across sites in North Nottinghamshire and South Yorkshire, joins existing partners Mark Pepper, CEO and Diane Ward, CCO and brings years of director level experience across various business disciplines including sales, business growth, policy, engineering, and energy.

Mark Pepper, CEO and owner, Carlton Forest Group, said: “Alex’s entrepreneurial spirit, tenacity and focus will help us to deliver ongoing success and establish the business, across all its divisions, as a major player in the UK business landscape.”

Matthias joined Carlton Forest Group two years ago and has played a key role in the growth of its renewables division.

“Carlton Forest Group is an amazing business that places a huge emphasis on its people, and how it encourages them to develop, perform and simply enjoy what they do, is so refreshing,” he said. “I am honoured to join Mark and Diane as a fellow partner and know that our team can continue to deliver amazing business performance as we work towards our common goals.”
