Modular accommodation firm expands with acquisition of North West industrial estate

A 6.6-acre site in Golborne, Wigan, has been sold for an undisclosed sum to a Midlands provider of modular accommodation.
Chartered surveyors, Nolan Redshaw, sold Millingford Industrial Estate on behalf of a local investment company.
The buyer is Pickerings Hire, based in Swadlincote, on the Leicestershire/Derbyshire border, but with 12 depots, including Trafford Park in the North West.
Pickerings, which specialises in the hire and sale of modular accommodation, anti-vandal and welfare units, will use the acquisition to expand further into the North West region.
Paul Nolan, from Nolan Redshaw, negotiated the sale and said: “Millingford Industrial Estate had come to the end of its economic life.
“Pickerings purchased the site and propose a full redevelopment of the site in order to make it suitable for their use.
“The site had previously secured planning permission for a Sainsbury’s supermarket, however, this scheme did not proceed as Sainsbury’s pulled out.”
He added: “It is a strategic site and will potentially bring a number of new jobs to the town.”
