Networking Lunch report: Right property in the right place vital for Leicester

Some 60 business owners and professionals gathered at Winstanley House in Leicester on Tuesday (June 20) for TheBusinessDesk.com’s latest lunch event.

Sarah Harrison, Stephen Fern and Russell Dowling

Hosted in conjunction with Lawson-West Solicitors, the audience heard from two speakers and three-person panel on the future of Leicester city centre.

The speakers included Stephen Fern, the managing director of 200 Degrees, and Sarah Harrison, city centre director at Leicester City Council. They were joined by Lawson-West’s senior commercial property solicitor, Russell Dowling.

The panellists thought that one of the most important aspects of making Leicester city centre more vibrant was to include more residential property development so that increased footfall would help boost the restaurants, cafes, cinema and theatre attractions that Leicester has to offer.

Offices, meanwhile, would have to be “the right type of commercial property, built in the right place” to attract employers in a post-Covid work world and ensure that staff wanted to come into work on a more regular basis.

With many thanks to the excellent staff at Winstanley House, our audience, the panellists and Lawson West for its support in facilitating the event.
