On the move: the latest East Midlands hires

Four step up at Wilkin Chapman

Law firm Wilkin Chapman has promoted four staff across its Lincoln, Grimsby and Beverley offices.

The new senior solicitors are in the firm’s commercial property and debt recovery teams.

Commercial property lawyer, Gillian Smith, has been promoted in Wilkin Chapman’s Lincoln office. Meanwhile, in the Grimsby office, debt recovery expert Amber Aisthorpe has been made senior solicitor, alongside commercial property expert Tom Furneaux, and commercial property litigator Hannah Loft, who will split time between the Grimsby and Beverley offices.

With over 400 partners and staff located across a network of legal offices in Grimsby, Lincoln, Beverley and Louth, Wilkin Chapman is the largest law firm in the Lincolnshire and East Yorkshire area.

David Sykes and Rod Whiting

BBC Radio Lincolnshire’s longest-serving breakfast show presenter, Rod Whiting, is bringing his 35 years of broadcasting experience to businesses across the UK as a media trainer for Carrington Communications.

Whiting, who has worked for the BBC, ITN and commercial networks for over three decades, provides media training through his own brand, Ultravox Media Training.

David Sykes, PR account director at Carrington said: “I used to be a reporter and producer for Rod’s programmes on BBC Radio Lincolnshire and he is a truly formidable interviewer who knows exactly how to get the best from an interviewee or put them on the spot.

“As valuable as media coverage can be, there’s a good reason why people find the prospect of speaking to journalists or appearing on TV and radio daunting because the consequences could be either fantastic or disastrous. Fortunately, good media training and preparation can help ensure interviews go the right way, helping organisations and individuals get their message across to large audiences while proving themselves as experts that people can trust.

“We’ve arranged for Rod to train spokespeople from a few of the companies we work with already, and the feedback has been excellent so I’m really excited that we’re able to go this next step further and join forces properly.”
