Plans to build £30m manufacturing facility approved
Plans to construct a £30m manufacturing training centre in a Nottinghamshire town have been given the green light.
The new Automated Distribution and Manufacturing Centre (ADMC) will be located on Lowmoor Road in Kirkby in Ashfield.
Ashfield District Council has called the ADMC the “flagship project” of its £62.6m Towns Deal.
While the council approved the application on July 31, the start date for construction has yet to be determined.
The seven-acre site is designed to collaborate with businesses, helping them explore how technology can improve their operations, test potential solutions, and train staff in using and maintaining automated systems.
Concerns were raised regarding noise, pollution, the impact on wildlife, and the site’s proximity to housing.
In response, the council plans to plant native trees and hedging to create a “new high-quality habitat” and serve as a buffer for a nearby residential area. Additionally, a new species-rich meadow and wet grassland meadow will be established.
