Forest appoint new head coach

Philippe Montanier

Nottingham Forest have appointed a new head coach, ending weeks of frustration for fans and players alike.

Philippe Montanier joins Forest after managing Rennes for three years. Before that he was at Real Sociedad, Valenciennes and Boulogne.

As player, Montainer was a goalkeeper in the French leagues for Saint Etienne and Nantes during a playing career that spanned 13 years.

Current owner and chairman, Fawaz Al-Hasawi, who is thought to be close to a deal to sell Forest, tweeted: “I am delighted to annouce we have completed the appointment of Phillipe Montainer as head coach.”

Forest returned to pre-season training this morning looking to improve on a disappointing 2015-16 campaign.
