Nottingham restaurant makes top 3 in Good Food Guide

A Nottingham fine dining restaurant is the third best in the country, according to influential new rankings – and its owner hasn’t ruled out expanding his business empire.

The two Michelin-starred Restaurant Sat Bains came in third place in the Good Food Guide Top 50 Restaurants 2017, up from 6th place last year.

The Good Food Guide rated the restaurant as “Cooking that has reached a pinnacle of achievement, making it a hugely memorable experience for the diner.”

Sat Bains told TheBusinessDesk.com: “It’s brilliant news for us. It shows us that the four day week is paying off and we ultimately believe we have a world class team and we are extremely proud of them. We try to provide a world class product and what’s great is that it’s judged by the customers and we are grateful for their support.”

When asked if he had any plans to expand into Nottingham city centre, Bains said: ““Never say never, but the plan for now is to consolidate what we do here at the restaurant and Nucleus, our restaurant within the restaurant, and to continuously reinvest to ensure we never stay still or stagnant.”

Restaurant Sat Bains is based on Lenton Lane and is run by Sat Bains and his wife Amanda. Their mission statement is “To create a world class operation for our team and customers alike.”

Bains was born in Derby. After being awarded a prestigious Roux scholarship, he worked in the south of France before opening Restaurant Sat Bains in Nottingham in 2002.

The Good Food Guide has a team of anonymous inspectors across the UK. They inspect establishments by eating at the restaurant like any other consumer; they never announce who they are, and they may attend individually or in groups, at lunch or at dinner, any day of the week.
