Northampton deli crowned Midlands’ best

The BBC Good Food Show has named Squisito Deli in Northamptonshire the Midlands Best Deli, following an extensive nomination and judging process.

Squisito Deli impressed the judging panel with its wonderful range of local produce, including homemade sausages, meat and, in particular, their cheeses and passion for their food. The BBC Good Food Show judging team felt that the amount of nominations, excellent customer service, incredible quality of produce and their obvious passion for getting involved in the community and engaging with their customers, made this deli stand out from the rest.

In recognition of the Award, Squisito Deli receives a free of charge stand at the BBC Good Food Show Birmingham at the NEC from 24 – 27 November, promoting their award winning Midlands business to tens of thousands of food loving visitors.

Katy Truss, artisan food specialist for the BBC Good Food Shows and member of the judging panel, visited Squisito Deli and said: “I was instantly charmed by Squisito Deli, a small but perfectly formed deli which is also a butchery, cafe, cookery school and fountain of food knowledge! Alex, the owner, gave a mouth-watering tour of his cheese counter to help find the perfect cheeses, a recipe to include his incredible beef ribs was helpfully offered and wonderfully irresistible produce filled the shelves to please any food lover. I can’t wait to see what they bring to the Show!”

Squisito Deli was one of ten shops on the shortlist for best Midlands Deli, as nominated by local customers. Following this, a mystery shopping exercise was performed by members of the judging panel, including Barney Desmazery, Food Editor at large, BBC Good Food. Judges scored each shop on a range of criteria including quality and value of produce and customer service.
