Gary McKelvey

Gary McKelvey is an entrepreneur in the truest sense of the word, passionate, shows fierce determination and drive yet is resourceful and has a willingness to listen. Indeed, it is these qualities which have underpinned the success he has enjoyed since taking over the reins as Managing Director of Panther Logistics.  During this time, he has taken the business to new heights achieving some of the biggest milestones since Panther first entered the two-person delivery marketplace 12 years ago.

It has been an incredible journey during which he, along with the support of his team, have transformed the fortunes of the business to create a robust and sustainable future for both Panther and its employees. Initially joining Panther in 2015 as General Manager, Gary has since worked across all departments within the business equipping him with the necessary knowledge to make a successful managing director. Gary’s leadership, exceptional drive and commitment to constantly improve, have all played a pivotal role in Panther’s phenomenal financial success against the backdrop of the Covid pandemic and the recent challenges for the sector, including driver shortages and soaring fuel costs.

He prides himself on being able to communicate at any level whether in the warehouse or in the boardroom.  He is a firm believer in encouraging his staff to develop through empowering them to bring forward their ideas, allowing them the responsibility and accountability to deliver and improve the services of Panther, which has earned him the respect of not just his peers, but also the many teams he has managed over the years. His focus and dedication to the sector, has been fundamental in the growth and success of Panther – leading on important changes, record contract wins and improved services, all of which has delivered huge gains to the business, its workforce, and its customers.

Panther’s acquisition by AIT Worldwide Logistics in November 2020 was one of the most ground breaking developments in Panther’s continued success story and indeed the pinnacle of Gary’s career.  Gary was adamant the sale would not only need to bring financial rewards to the business, but also deliver a positive return for its 500-strong workforce, with a focus on staff opportunities, quality and innovation paramount to the acquisition.

Gary is not only committed to Panther, his staff and his customers, he also has a passion for helping others – through fundraising activities for a number of worthy causes, raising over £30,000 as well as supporting local initiatives.

It is Gary’s ability to consistently deliver an outstanding performance for the business that has not only led to making Panther the market leader that it is but has also played a pivotal role in his promotion to a global position – AIT Worldwide Logistics’ Vice President Global Home Delivery Operations.

Whilst still retaining responsibility for Panther Gary will also be tasked with supporting AIT’s strategic goals in further developing final mile home delivery in the US as well looking to expand home delivery services in other regions.
