Libra Chemicals bought by Yorkshire competitor

CHEMICALS manufacturer and distributor GRI Group has bought Manchester-based Libra Chemicals for an undisclosed sum.

Libra Chemicals is a manufacturer and distributor of speciality chemicals for industrial, personal care and household care applications.

Companies House records show that the firm, based on the Northbank Industrial Park, Irlam, employs just over 30 people and in the year to March 31 it made a pre-tax profit of £1.4m on sales of £12.9m.

Graham Royle, chairman and chief executive of GRI Group, said: “Libra is renowned for its quality and service and is a fantastic strategic fit with the rest of our group companies.

“There is virtually no product overlap and the combined range offers superb synergy across the customer base and global geographical markets that we cover. Already there is incredible enthusiasm among our customers and suppliers.”

The Sheffield office of North WEst law firm Hill Dickinson and accountancy firm Hart Shaw acted on behalf of GRI Group.
