Private school opens £500k extension

A PRIVATE school has opened a new £500,000 science and arts building.
Greenbank Preparatory School of Cheadle Hulme near Stockport was supported in the expansion by The Royal Bank of Scotland.
The new facility also houses the school’s administration centre, arts and music rooms and a new medical room. It was officially opened by Professor Ian Morison from Cheshire’s famous Jodrell Bank telescope.
Established in 1951, Greenbank is an independent primary school for pupils aged from three to 11. It also operates a separate day nursery caring for babies and children from six months to four years old.
The new science rooms have been equipped with the latest equipment including digital microscopes, telescopes, data loggers and interactive whiteboards.
The building was funded by RBS Commercial Bank in Cheadle and also by cash raised by the Greenbank School Parent’s Association.
Headteacher Janet Lowe, said: “The investment in new facilities also represents an investment in our children’s future. By learning and working in new purpose built classrooms the children will get the most out of their time at the school.”
Paul Gaynor, relationship manager from RBS, said: “Greenbank and its board of trustees have invested a considerable sum of money in recent years to provide excellent facilities for their pupils. This latest development is a continuation of their forward-looking approach.”
