Former 2ergo execs target social networks

TWO former employees of the AIM-listed mobile phone technology specialist 2ergo have set up a new business which will seek to help large companies market their products on social networking sites such as Facebook.

Damian Hanson, 31, a former sales director at Salford-based 2ergo, and David Hague, 27, launched their new company, called One Iota, last month.

Mr Hanson, chief executive, said: “Social media sites, such as Facebook, provide a huge opportunity for brands to engage and transact with consumers in new ways.

“Mobile devices have been a significant driver for social media consumption, with over 30% of all Facebook users now accessing the site via their mobiles.”

Rossendale-based One Iota said its technology allows businesses to market their goods through social networks and provides a secure system for e-commerce.

Mr Hanson added: “Companies are still struggling to understand how they can engage social media and mobile channels correctly. With the effective application of technology, we can create solutions that deliver great results for our clients. We’re working on a number of key projects at the moment and 2011 will be a very exciting year for us and the clients we work with.”
