IT minnow scores with leisure firms

AN IT minnow is swimming with the big fish after winning a hat-trick of contracts.
Rochdale-based Inventive IT, which was set up by the former head of software development at holiday giant MyTravel, has grown its team from four to 16 in the last few months.
It has won business from Thomas Cook North America, LateRooms.com and Peel Airports, which owns Liverpool John Lennon, Robin Hood and Durham Tees Valley airports.
Inventive specialises in developing bespoke software systems for travel companies looking after everything from data warehousing and revenue management to building websites and social networking applications.
Mr Charnock, who set up the business with two former colleagues, Rory Powers and David Mathews said: “We knew it was a major risk setting up a new company at the beginning of a downturn but we also believed that it created unique opportunities for us to deliver technology solutions to the travel industry.
“Poor market conditions and reduced demand drive the need for improved online distribution and marketing, smarter pricing and intelligent capacity planning capabilities within travel businesses.”
