Kingdom saves 100 jobs in security swoop

A NORTH West security firm has saved 100 jobs after buying a troubled Yorkshire rival.
St Helens-based Kingdom Security has bought Selby company Global Response Group out of administration for an undisclosed sum.
Founded in 1997 GRG had 112 staff before fallintg into insolvecy. Its clients include Leeds United FC and Drax Power Station. GRG provides security guards and CCTV, security fencing and barriers and facilities management.
Kingdom Security, operates nationally and supplies fully-licensed security guards, mobile patrols and key holding services.
The sale of GRG was secured by Charles MacMillan, partner and head of corporate recovery at Manchester-based accountants and business advisors Beever and Struthers.
Mr MacMillan said: “While the demise of any business and the consequent loss of jobs is obviously disappointing I was pleased to secure the transfer of the vast majority of jobs at GRG to Kingdom Security.
“This was a seamless transaction achieved through close and effective teamwork between myself, Kingdom and clients of GRG including Drax Power Station.”
Terry Barton, managing director of Kingdom Security, said: “We are delighted to continue our national expansion with the acquisition of GRG customers in Yorkshire.”
The Manchester office of law firm Shoosmiths provided legal advice to Charles MacMillan and Beever and Struthers.
