Sellafield tenders £1.5bn treatment plant

SELLAFIELD Ltd has put a contract worth up to £1.5bn out to tender for the design and build of a liquid effluent plant on its site.
The contract for the construction of a highly active liquid effluent facility is worth between £250m and £1.5bn.
The project will be split into three phases, with the first covering initial mobilisation and familiarisation, and the second being design and pre construction safety reports.
The third phase will see detailed plans drawn up before the contractor builds the new facility. This final phase is subject to approval from the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority and government, before the build can begin.
The deadline for submissions is October 9.
