Appointments: New recruits at Sanderson Weatherall, Barclays, Taylor Patterson & more

SURVEYOR Sanderson Weatherall has added to its nationwide asset based lending team with senior appointments in Manchester and London.
Partner Christian Humphreys and associate partner Lee Joyce are joining the firm to focus specifically on valuations against inventory and plant and machinery.
Humphreys and Joyce arrive at Sanderson Weatherall from the Manchester and London offices respectively of SHM Smith Hodgkinson where they worked together providing valuation services. Humphreys will head the division from Manchester with Joyce based in the London office of Sanderson Weatherall.
Humphreys said: “ABL slowed down in the credit crunch but is proving to be increasingly popular because other forms of finance continue to be unavailable to business.

BARCLAYS Corporate has appointed John Williams as business development manager for the area, based at the firm’s offices in Manchester.
Williams has worked in corporate and investment banking in London for a number of years. His previous roles were in leveraged finance teams, originating private equity-backed deals such as management buyouts, mergers and acquisitions and managing client relationships.
He said: “Manchester is a key area for us and as such we are keen to work alongside quality companies to ensure we continue to support the region’s growth, both with existing and new customers.”

PRESTON financial advisory group, Taylor Patterson, has recruited two senior figures from professional services business, RSM Tenon.
Chris Bardin has joined Taylor Patterson as a director, while Jason Street has been appointed as a financial adviser.
Mr Bardin will head up the operational management of Taylor Patterson’s financial planning division, enabling fellow director Phil Rogers to take on an increased business development role.
He joins Taylor Patterson from RSM Tenon’s Chorley office where he was North West regional director for financial planning.

Liverpool energy specialist Saturn Energy has increased its sales force by a third after an increase in inquiries from firms wanting to reduce their gas and electricity bills.
Saturn already works with around 250 companies on Merseyside. Managing director John McShane said the six new sales staff will help deal with enquiries from 2,000 other SMEs and small businesses, with the firm planning to double its workforce to 50 during 2011.
Jenna Shields joins Saturn from Connell Solicitors. Ashley Durkin comes to the company from Santander, Paul Grieg from the Essential HR Partnership and Daniel Lyons from Bupa. The other new sales staff are Christopher Jarvis, who was formerly with a national retail outlet and Shane Howard, who was previously with EncCore Acquisitions.
Saturn Energy specialises in energy purchasing for SMEs and small businesses as well as providing analysis and advice on the energy markets.
The increase in inquiries follows the takeover of parent company Spice by private equity group Cinven and marks the latest chapter in the growth of the company since it was formed by three founding directors in 1993.

THE Resource People, a Manchester-based recruitment and training firm, has appointed Darren Carter as director of recruitment services.
He has spent 18 years in the recruitment industry having previously worked in business development and operational management.

WIGAN-based debt manager Debtfocus has strengthened its team with the appointment of Michelle Fielding as an insolvency supervisor. She will be the principle contact for clients and professional intermediaries.
Fielding is CPI qualified with 14 years’ experience in the insolvency profession.
She said: “I have followed the success and progression of Debtfocus for some time now and am really pleased to be given the opportunity of joining such a wonderful team.”
